Less Cover Tunes More Nu-Music!
KJAZZ Radio UK started streaming broadcasts in Sept 2011 ahead of its target date in 2012. In March 2012 again ahead of target both a 24/7 stream was launched and also KJAZZ Radio UK TV was launched which features videos for the KJAZZ Radio UK musicians… kind of like Smooth Jazz MTV. Broadcasting music is expensive and there are a lot of decisions to be made around site content, programming etc before we move to a fully LIVE service. To find out more go to our FAQ page (Frequently Asked Questions).
It’s all about the music!
KJAZZ Radio UK’s ‘On Air’ format primarily centres around ‘Smooth Jazz’ featuring new emerging artists similar to Dave Koz, Kenny G, George Benson etc. However the key is in the stations slogan ‘Smooth Jazz & More’ which means there will also be a mixture of Soul, R&B, Lounge, Ambient, Chill added to the mix. The music is carefully selected by a live individual to create the right sonic fusion of music we think you will enjoy, rather than a computer producing a Playlist based on statistics.
Free Musician Promotion
KJAZZ Radio UK offers a free ‘Promotion for Music Exchange’. In return for the Musician supplying 2-3 mp3′s KJAZZ Radio UK will…
- Put the song/s into its broadcast stream promoting the musician when used.
- Add musician and song details to the KJAZZ Radio UK website including:
- A dedicated page under the ‘Musicians’ section.
- Updated content e.g. New CD’s etc will be included on the ‘Musicians’ page when supplied.
- Links to where your music can be purchased will be promoted and included.
- For select artists we will also create a You Tube video using the song to further publicise you.
- A chance to be ‘Featured Artist of the Month’ where a specific CD and you are further promoted.
- Featured in our news video’s.
- Added to KJAZZ Radio UK TV.
- and more!
The musician retains full ownership, the only right they give KJAZZ Radio UK is to broadcast the songs royalty free and use it in promotion of the musician and the station (including video) always ensuring the musician is credited and publicized.
KJAZZ Radio UK its owners, employees etc. do not have the right to sell the musicians song/s (other than as stated above), distribute or share it or copy it to other devices other than that used in association with its broadcast. KJAZZ Radio UK makes every attempt it can to prevent illegal copying or downloading of the musicians material from KJAZZ Radio UK.
KJAZZ Radio UK does not play cover tunes (there are exceptions). Primarily we want to give our audience fresh new music and leave mainstream songs, covers etc to the FM stations etc. KJAZZ Radio UK is about helping musicians with original material. That is limiting but as we grow ( and we are) so do these musicians.
Background
www..kjazzradiouk.com is KJAZZ Radio UK or KRUK (not affiliated with any US station of similar or same name) and broadcasts from its studio in Southwater Initially intended as a local UK station KJAZZ Radio UK has quickly spread globally as you can see on the map above.
California born Los Angeles Radio Personality and Producer Paul Rumsey decided to bring a US styled format to UK Internet radio. KJAZZ Radio UK keeps it simple by playing the music you love. KJAZZ Radio UK has experienced remarkable development in a short period of time. An idea in July 2011 a site was developed in August 2011 on Google at www.kjazzradio.co.uk. It was recreated at its new permanent home www.kjazzradiouk.com in September 2011. During this period the first musician Maurice Johnson signed up to have his music played and from there it continues to grow. Our first broadcast stream started in September 2011.
With the advancement in smart Technology phones etc. there is also opportunity for stations that are not broadcasting over the air and as the world becomes ‘smartly’ connected this is an increasing but savvy and demanding market. This technology provides the ability to deliver content differently and that is what KJAZZ Radio UK is all about. This station streams “Smooth Jazz and More” 24/7. See our music Playlist for more details. In the future our Globalcast section will feature local interviews of interest to the listeners within the local community and beyond. These Podcasts will reflect and underpin the community side of KJAZZ Radio UK. We also feel that KJAZZ Radio UK is more about music than talk, so our 24/7 music stream keeps chat to a minimum and is being played in offices, Pubs and Restaurants.
Southwater, West Sussex – The Home Of KJAZZ Radio UK!
Southwater is a large village and civil parish in the Horsham District of West Sussex, England with a population of roughly 10,000. The village is administered from the Horsham District Council Offices. KJAZZ Radio UK’s Studio is situated near beautiful natural woodlands and a patchwork of fields that seem to stretch forever. An abundance of wildlife is also seen here – Deer, Rabbit, Fox, Hawks, Bats and Owls can be seen around the studios location. Must like the “Smooth Grooves”
KJAZZ Radio UK is not affiliated with ‘Keep Southwater Green’ a campaign against further senseless development of the already large village. However it does support their position and would encourage anybody interested in preserving the countryside, conservation and living in or around the community to join. Click on the Southwater picture to find out more.
The Owner lived in over developed Southern California for many years where every piece of available land was and is being developed for housing etc. Development which has not considered environmental impact and has created water shortages, traffic congestion on the Freeways, power problems, air quality issues and contributed to an increased population which has brought about its own social issues. This has happened in just over 20 years. A recent look at Google Earth shows that development has continued even a local Golf Course near where the Owner once lived, has been scaled down to add homes. Southern California was once a beautiful place but has now become a overcrowded man made landscape of endless shopping centres, roads and homes. However California is vast and there are many pristine areas and the Owner may be biased but it still remains one of the most diverse and beautiful states that make up the USA. There are elements of every world climatic zone reflected in what is California. How long will it last? The desert and foothills which surrounds most of LA, once a place of solitude has been unnaturally developed. Wildlife is now frequently seen in areas now habited by man as their natural areas have been shrunk. Its not uncommon for Black Bear or Mountain Lions to be seen in some of the gardens and swimming pools of the foothill communities.
Southwater and indeed the South East of England has pressure to increase housing. However here the local residents appear to be taking action to demand some of the things that have happened in other areas of the globe don’t happen without careful considerations being made. England is an Island and this means that it has no choice but to carefully consider its future when it comes to development. If it is to remain a ‘Green and Pleasant Land’. Once the natural areas are gone that is it. There is no turning back. Equally development is necessary and it must be able to be sustained, planned with foresight for the future and environmental considerations addressed before the first foundation stone is laid. Humans must work with the natural environment rather than seeking to dominate it for their own selfish gain. The children who we raise demand it. After all we are just caretakers of the planet during our time here and what we each of us do has an impact on the future.
